Scanning Through Clothes to Find The Best For Resell
When scanning for clothing, a lot of people can get intimidated, especially when looking for items that are the best for resell. There are endless racks of clothing, lots of different variables, and it can be difficult to know which item stands out from the other. It can be a little intimidating or difficult at first when you don’t know what to look for, but we’re here to help you! We’ll provide a list of brands that we tend to do well with and when we see the, we’ll take an extra few seconds to look it over when we’re out sourcing through the racks.
Along with the brands, make sure to keep a look out for the best deals. Your local Goodwill may have an additional 50% off of a certain colored tag for the week and that can help big time on making a decision on a purchase. Also be sure to check out ALL of your local and nearby thrift and donation centers. You’ll find that some places have better deals than others.

Know Your Brands & Find The Deals
These are some of the brands that I find myself buying time and time again with good resell value and high velocity (how fast they sell). Michael Kors is definitely one of them, but of course, there are exceptions when buying anything. Keep your eyes open because some items are going to be better than others. Here are some of the ways to judge the condition of your clothing:
Look for tears
Look for stains
If there is a minor flaw, use your best judgment and think “If I was buying this over the internet, would I mind this? Would I buy it and be willing to take the risk of washing it out/dealing with it?”
Make sure all buttons/zippers function
KNOW YOUR LABELS! Get used to seeing a certain brands label and what it normally looks like. Once you see that brand and it has a different-looking label, this is a good indicator to stop and look it up. It may be vintage or special-edition.
I was able to pick up this Michael Kors trench coat for $6 at my local thrift store. This can be an easy flip for $40+ with the right buyer.
Researching Your Items for Resell on eBay
When researching on eBay, I always compare the condition of the item I am looking at to the ones that are selling. Some brands, like Carhartt for example, still sell for a big price regardless of how many stains/rough wear it has. If you have an awesome item and it has a broken zipper, maybe take the time to search through sold eBay comps to see if anybody else has sold one with a broken zipper. Once again, use your judgment. 90% of the item you should not pick up an item even if it has a ton of flaws just because it has awesome resell value. The price people are paying is because the other items are in good condition; your item with a lot of flaws will not be the same. Trust me.
These Michael Kors Trench Coats on eBay can range in price, but you could easily expect to sell in the $30-$60 range. Which isn’t bad off of a $6 pick up. Just be sure that the clothes you pick up are in good condition and can compare to the items that you’re looking at.
Be sure to check on all reselling platforms available for you, so that you’re getting the best prices. We recommend looking and reselling on eBay, Poshmark, Mercari and Facebook Marketplace.
Researching Your Best Items to Sell on Poshmark
If you are selling on Poshmark (which I HIGHLY advise you DO sell on Poshmark!), always take a closer look at sports team clothing. Whether it be NCAA college schools, or NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, etc., they are hot sellers on Poshmark. This is because even though they may have brands that you have never heard of (the buyers probably haven’t heard of the brands either), they are still good sellers due to unique designs! The variety of sports items are very big and have a lot of unique pieces that people will love. Poshmark is the perfect place to sell these items since you end up sharing your item enough and they see it when scrolling, instead of them searching for the item specifically. That is the beauty of Poshmark, you put your items in front of the customer and let them scroll through.
That being said, not just any jersey will work. You’ll want to get something that wont sit in your inventory for very long.Try going for items that are more popular or well known. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers have easy items for resell if you can manage to pick things up for a good price. Players names and jerseys are easily one of the best for resell and can sell very quickly.
Kobe Bryant and Lebron James merchandise is always in good demand, but also be sure to check prices on comparable merchandise to make sure you’re not over-paying for the items.
Where To Find The Best Clothes?
Do your research to find out what donation centers or thrifts are around you. In my town alone there are 2 Goodwills within 15-20 minutes of each other, as well as many other smaller stores. It will always be best to check out which stores are best for you to go to as some will have great deals on clothes while others will be very pricey. You don’t need to be picky either when it comes to the stores you pick up from. You can check out factory outlet stores as well. Places like Nike, Columbia, Eddie Bauer and many many more have factory outlet stores where they tend to sell off clothes and merchandise for up to 80%+ off!
I hope this helps! If you have any questions, please go check out @DrakeTalks on Instagram! You can see what he picks up and know what to look for when you are on your next sourcing trip at the thrifts! Message him with any questions and he will help!
